PUBLIC COMMENT

At this time, members of the public may address the Landmarks Board on items of interest to the public that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Landmarks Board except agenda items. Public comment will be taken on each agendized item. Each member of the public may address the Landmarks Board for up to three minutes. If it is demonstrated that comments by the public will exceed 15 minutes, the President or chairperson may continue Public Comment to another time during the meeting.

The Brown Act forbids a commission or board from taking action or discussing any item not appearing on the posted agenda, including those items raised at public comment. In response to public comment, not on an agendized item, the Board is limited to:

(1) briefly responding to statements made or questions posed by members of the public, or

(2) requesting staff to report back on a matter at a subsequent meeting, or

(3) directing staff to place the item on a future agenda. (Government Code Section 54954.2(a).).

88 5th STREET, Old San Francisco United States Mint, Assessor's Block 3704, Lot 011, bounded by Mint Street on the north, 5th Street on the east, Mission Street on the south and Jessie Street on the west. The subject building was designated as San Francisco Landmark No. 236. It is zoned P (Public Use) District and is in a 40-X Height and Bulk District. The Old Mint constructed between 1869 and 1874, its history is has had various uses and has been vacant since 1994. The proposed project would be to rehabilitate the existing historic structure into the City History Museum with secondary uses being retail, restaurant and offices.

LANDMARK DESIGNATION

MISSION HIGH SCHOOL, 3750 18th Street - Bounded by Dolores, Church, 18th, and Dorland Streets. Consideration to initiate landmark designation, adopt a resolution recommending landmark designation to the Planning Commission the Mission High School as Landmark No. 255.

CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS

625 3rd Street, Transcontinental Freight Co. Building, Contributory-Altered to the South End Historic District. Assessor's Block 3788; Lot 045, Request for Certificate of Appropriateness to reface an existing flat-panel non-illuminated sign with a new non-illuminated sign and install new address decal numbers above main entrance.

Preliminary Recommendation: Approval

12. (M. SNYDER: 415/575-6891)

1100 Tennessee Street (A.K.A. 807 22nd Street), southwest corner of 22nd Street and Tennessee Street, Block 4171, Lot 001. Request for Certificate of Appropriateness to install an exhaust vent on front façade in association with the establishment of a new restaurant in the ground floor commercial space. The subject building is a flat front Italianate mixed-use structure that was constructed in 1886. It is a Contributory structure to the Dogpatch Historic District has been assigned a National Register Status Code 5D1, and was included in the Planning Department's Architectural Survey of 1976. It is within the NC-2 (Neighborhood Commercial, Small-scale) District and a 50-X Height and Bulk District.

13. (D. DIBARTOLO: 415/558-6291)

57-65 POST STREET, The Mechanics Institute, south side between Montgomery and Kearny Streets, Assessor's Block 311, Lot 13. Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness for modifications to a non-original storefront on the ground floor of the subject landmark building. The subject structure is a nine-story, mixed-use building, steel frame and brick construction, designed by Albert Pissis and constructed in 1909. The subject property is Landmark Number 134 under Article 10, and Category I (Significant) under Article 11 of the Planning Code. The landmark is located within the C-3-O (Downtown Office) District and is in a 250-S Height and Bulk District.

CELL PHONE AND/OR SOUND-PRODUCING ELECTRONIC DEVICE USAGE AT HEARINGS

Effective January 21, 2001, the Board of Supervisors amended the Sunshine Ordinance by adding the following provision: The ringing of and use of cells phones, pagers and similar sound-producing electronic devices are prohibited at this meeting. Please be advised that the Chair may order the removal from the meeting room of any person(s) responsible for the ringing or use of a cell phone, pager, or other similar sound-producing electronic devices (67A.1 Prohibiting the use of cell phone, pager, or other similar sound-producing electronic devices at and during public meetings).

Hearings are held at City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, Room 400, Fourth Floor, San Francisco, CA. The closest accessible BART Station is the Civic Center Station located at the intersection of Market, Hyde and Grove Streets. Accessible curb side parking has been designated at points along McAllister Street. Accessible MUNI Lines serving City Hall are the 9 San Bruno, 47 and 49 Lines and 71 Haight/Noriega and the F Line. Accessible MUNI Metro Lines are the J, K, L, M, and N at the Van Ness Muni Station at Van Ness Avenue and Market Street. For more information regarding MUNI accessible services, call (415) 923-6142.

Requests for American sign language interpreters, sound enhancement system and/or language translators will be available upon request by contacting Lulu Hwang at (415) 558-6418, at least 48 hours prior to a hearing. A sound enhancement system will be available upon request at the meetings.
