Environmental Review

The EIR is being prepared pursuant to the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Portions of the project may also be subject to review under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

The Planning Department issued a Notice of Preparation of an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and Notice of Public Scoping Meeting for the Glen Park Community Plan on July 1, 2009. A public scoping meeting was held on July 16, 2009 to receive oral comments concerning the scope of the EIR. Written comments were also accepted until 5:00 p.m. on July 31, 2009.

On January 6, 2010, the Planning Department published an Initial Study for the Glen Park Community Plan. The Initial Study was available for public comment for 30 days (until February 4, 2010). Comments received during this period are being taken into account in the Draft EIR that currently being prepared. Publication of the Draft EIR is anticipated to occur in summer 2010.

The Draft EIR will be distributed for public review and comment for a period of approximately 45 days. Toward the end of the public review period, the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to obtain oral comments on the Draft EIR. Written comments will also be accepted during the Draft EIR period.

The Planning Department will prepare a Comments and Responses document that will provide written responses to oral and written comments received during the Draft EIR period and that address the adequacy of the Draft EIR. The Comments and Responses document, together with the Draft EIR, will be considered by the Planning Commission during a public hearing. The Planning Commission will then certify these documents as a Final EIR, if deemed adequate. Final EIR certification is anticipated to occur in Spring 2011.
